ABOUT THE DESIGNER

It was during a stay in Transylvania, the region of origin of her mother, that the designer Alice Roux discovered a small high-end leather goods workshop, about to close its doors. Eager to perpetuate the know-how of these passionate craftsmen, she created Alixane, a brand of vegan leather goods, with the ambition to bring an artisanal approach to leather goods with more ecological, qualitative materials and without animal materials. Entirely handcrafted, Alixane creations are feminine, modern and elegant. The manufacturing is 100% European and is carried out in a workshop on a human scale that respects people and the environment. From the recycling of synthetic fibers, the raw materials used are Ecolabel certified and participate in a circular development of resources.

Composition

Recycled material

Recycled materials are eco-responsible and help promote the circular economy. They are often made from pre- or post-consumer waste. Using recycled components to make new products significantly reduces the environmental impact of the production process, since no new material is created. Among the most common recycled materials, we find recycled cotton, recycled polyester, recycled wool, or recycled nylon. We can also recycle metals for jewelry, such as gold or silver.

All Alixane brand products are made in Sibiu, a historic region of Transylvania specializing in leatherwork. In 2018, during a stay in this region where her mother is from, the designer Alice Roux discovered a small leather goods workshop about to close. Eager to perpetuate the local know-how and the artisanal wealth of this place, she then had a revelation and chose to create her brand of vegan leather goods with this workshop. Together, they apply the requirement and thoroughness of leatherwork on qualitative, innovative and eco-labeled non-animal materials. Alixane places respect for nature and people at the heart of its development, and ensures that it offers good working conditions and fair remuneration to all of its craftsmen, mainly women, who make each Alixane piece by hand.
